Students learn the process of generating and formulating an idea, developing a Voice of the Customer (VOC) survey, utilizing a House of Quality (HOQ) matrix for developing a product requirements document, brainstorming and ranking concepts through the Plough Concept Selection Matrix technique, among others. Patenting and intellectual property issues will be discussed and selected ideas will be evaluated against patent searches.
