Catalog description

An introduction to the history of mathematics that covers some of the outstanding achievements and the striking personalities of the mathematicians who made them. This course offers a journey through four millennia of mathematical discoveries including early number systems, ancient Greek mathematics, the development of algebra, calculus, and sets. Some of the central problems of the times are studied along with their solutions.
