Catalog description

This course covers fundamental concepts and technologies for the management and analysis of unstructured textual data. Topics include encoding, indexing, preprocessing, storing, searching, processing, and presenting textual information using fully automatic systems. Analytic techniques, such as categorization and clustering, and link analysis, are introduced that allow students to process and analyze textual data, discover patterns and knowledge, and interpret the results. Students use text analytics existing APIs and tools to design experiments for exploring the behavior of basic text analytic techniques.
