Catalog description

The course will introduce students to materials and specifications for interior design. Students will learn how to select, specify, and apply appropriate materials, finishes and furnishings for interior design projects. Selections will be based on performance, testing, code, sustainability, accessibility, indoor air quality, ergonomics, human health, and safety. At the completion of this course, students will understand the role of materials in supporting design intent, human experience, code requirements, the specification process as part of a contract document set, and the value of lifelong learning in relationship to evolving materials, products, and fabrication technologies.
