This accelerated course provides a hands-on introduction to DSLR photography, emphasizing manual camera control, exposure theory, and optical principles. Students will explore how DSLR capabilities compare to modern smartphone cameras in terms of sensor performance, image processing, and computational photography. Through weekly projects and guided experimentation, students will gain practical experience capturing and analyzing images while learning to critically assess the strengths and trade-offs of each imaging platform. This course is designed to deepen the understanding of consumer imaging systems from a scientific perspective, with an emphasis on real-world imaging conditions and system limitations. These skills are foundational for careers in imaging system design, image analysis, or multimedia production workflows.
