Catalog description
Real-world datasets are often large and can be stored in either main memory or a database. In this course, students will learn the basic principles and algorithms of data mining. Topics include knowledge discovery process; data exploration and cleaning; and data mining algorithms. The emphasis is on how to use data mining to describe datasets rather than making predictions. Data mining projects and a term paper are required.
