Catalog description
Representation is the fundamental practice underlying the visual arts. In this graduate course, students will explore theoretical concepts, processes, meanings, and functions of visual representation across different cultures, eras, and media, analyzing how, why, and to whom representation communicates meaning. This course will be reading intensive, and group discussion will be the primary pedagogical method.
