Catalog description
Emphasizes application of the nursing process and skills in the maternal and neonatal setting to meet the needs of the client and neonate during antepartal, intrapartal, and postpartal periods. Historical and current issues, trends, growth and development of the childbearing family, fetal development, and gestation are presented. Nursing care of the client, neonate, and family during the antepartal, intrapartal, and postpartal periods as well as complications of pregnancy and their treatment and nursing care are included. This course includes a 30-hour clinical component. Students must pass both the theory and clinical components of the course with 80% in each component to successfully complete the course and advance in the Practical Nursing program.
