Intro to Alternative Energy

Catalog description

Provides an overview of the power industry, from source to end user, and includes safety issues specific to the power industry. The course introduces issues leading up to the development of alternative forms of energy and power generation. A brief presentation of the four primary forms of alternative energy generation (nuclear, biomass, wind, and solar) is followed by more in-depth coverage of biomass and biofuels and of solar energy. The course includes consideration of the smart grid, issues of integrating alternative energy into the national power supply, and safety issues specific to the power industry.
