Early Intervention and Infant and Toddler Assessment

Catalog description

This course supports students who have an interest in working with young children and their families. When a child is born with a disability or exhibits a developmental delay, the child and family may qualify to receive a range of services from the state of residency for up to three years. These services are provided by Early Intervention. The primary aim of this course is to orient students to the Early Intervention program, and provide guidance on infant and toddler assessments (e.g., diagnosing Autism Spectrum Disorder in children under the age of three, etc.). This course will emphasize evidence based and culturally responsive practices. The information and the techniques learned in this class will be beneficial when working in any social service or early childhood program.
