Catalog description

This course will focus on the understanding and practice of techniques of voice production and articulation with an emphasis on the development of a well-supported, sustainable speaking voice and energized, clear articulation. Emphasis will be given to the relationship between singing and speaking voice technique to capitalize on students’ existing skill sets, while also addressing chronic speech patterns that limit projection, range, clarity, and/or emotional expression. Exercises will target maximized intelligibility, inflection, and resonance in speech, with the goal of allowing the student to maintain consistently dynamic vocal presence and expression while shifting between singing and speech on stage.
