Catalog description
This course introduces students to diverse poets and poetic forms. Students will learn to appreciate a wide range of poetic voices and to situate them within their cultural context. Particular attention will be paid to formal innovations and the evolution of poetic forms across the globe. Our aim is to achieve a richer understanding of poetry in its varied modes of expression. The course counts towards the fulfillment of the Disciplinary Perspectives element of the CLAS general education curriculum.
