Catalog description

This course will develop the skills necessary for educational leaders to identify and define problems, implement data collection methods, and analyze, interpret, and report data across multiple levels from the individual student to the larger system. Students will learn to construct survey instruments for actionable results and to manage and analyze quantitative data using appropriate technologies. Course activities emphasize data-based decision making for evaluation of programs and practices in real-world contexts, including identifying data sources, interpreting statistical output, and communicating results to diverse audiences. Mastery of these skills prepares students for the dissertation process and for applied research in their organizations. The course references and aligns with the Professional Standards for Educational Leadership (PSEL).
