Catalog description

UR offers three Global Music ensembles: Japanese Taiko Drumming, West African Drumming, and Indonesian Gamelan. Each ensemble includes a hands-on exploration of traditional musical repertoires. Students will perform on hand-made instruments and join with expert native musicians and dancers in an end-of-semester concert. No previous musical experience is necessary. Traditions learned aurally/orally; no prior experience with music notation is necessary. One rehearsal weekly.
