Catalog description

This course provides a foundational understanding of key counseling principles and their application in the context of substance use disorders and behavioral health treatment. Students will develop basic counseling skills essential for establishing rapport and facilitating change. The course will cover the principles of substance use disorder treatment planning, emphasizing client-centered and evidence-based approaches. A significant component will focus on the importance of client, family, and community education in promoting understanding and support for recovery. Students will explore various substance abuse and addiction treatment methods, gaining insight into their theoretical underpinnings and practical application.
