Instructional Method: Three hours lecture. Students will learn foundation material relevant to speech sound development, production, and disorders. This includes, but is not limited to: characteristics of the speech sounds used by English language speakers, normal acquisition of speech sound development, recognition of how sounds are influenced by human anatomy and physiology, understanding of how phonological development and knowledge may impact perceptual correlates of speech, and an appreciation of how speech is influenced by one’s culture or linguistic experiences.
