Basics in the Study of Sacred Texts

This course will introduce studentss to sacred texts, paying close attention to their historical contexts, methods of interpretation, and questions surrounding translation and language. Depending on the instructor's area of specialization, this course will focus on a range of sacred texts. Attention will be given to the role of sacred texts and scriptures in contemporary culture. (Offered every odd fall term.)
