Catalog description

Music Theory I will cover the following topics: fundamentals of notation, tonality, scales and modes, triads, seventh chords, figured bass, and intervals as well as an introduction to two-part writing using Species Counterpoint. This course is the first of a four-semester sequence for all music majors and a requirement for the music minor. Prerequisite: None. (Offered every fall term.) Credit: 3.
