Post-Production: Theory/Practice

Catalog description

This practice-heavy editing course will provide the opportunity to obtain skills and knowledge that will prepare students for entry-level post-production work in the multimedia industry including video/audio journalism, documentary, and narrative filmmaking. By participating in required screenings and discussions, students will develop analytical skills by analyzing award-winning television shows, narratives, and documentary films. In turn, students will identify the best post-production practices and conventions; then apply those conventions in their project-based editing assignments. The required screenings will not only touch on award-winning productions, but historical and classical films that were innovative, controversial, and broke the rules. Prerequisites: MMS 210. (Offered every fall term.) Credit: 4.
