Catalog description
An introduction to the fundamentals of analyzing numerical data in a social science context. Students will learn sampling methods, descriptive statistics, probability and sampling distributions, estimation, hypothesis testing, correlation, regression, and analysis of variance. Emphasis will be on an intuitive understanding of statistical formulae and models, and on their practical application. The SPSS package will be used for computer data analysis. Prerequisite: None. (Offered every fall and spring term.)
