Catalog description
This course is designed to develop students’ quantitative literacy skills by studying real-world mathematical problems in a variety of business contexts. Students will gain an in-depth knowledge of algebraic functions and an introduction to the calculus concepts of differentiation and integration for application in business settings. Emphasis is on identifying, building, and communicating the results of mathematical models using algebraic and calculus tools. Applications include, but are not limited to, marginal analysis, optimization, and continuous income streams. Prerequisite: None. (Offered every fall and spring terms.)
