International Immersion Program

Catalog description

This course involves putting yourself in a completely new situation with the goal of becoming functionally proficient in another language and to acquire an understanding and appreciation of other cultures. Instead of speaking a language only while you are in class, you will use it all day every day - whether you are asking for directions, conversing with a new friend, or reading the placards in a museum. By combining travel with study, this course allows you to delve into a new culture via daily exposure to the language through your interactions with your host family and international classmates. Prerequisite: two intermediate language classes, and permission of department chair. (Offered every summer.)
