Viva Mexico! This course explores key moments in the history of Mexico from the pre- Columbian period to the present. It introduces students to important discussions concerning the formation of Mexican society and culture. The class considers topics ranging from the Spanish Conquest, foreign interventions in the 19th century, the dictatorship of Porfirio Diaz, and the Mexican Revolution, to the roots of contemporary issues such as narco- trafficking and migration. No Prerequisite. (Offered every other even spring term.)
