Catalog description

This course develops skills of data creation and analysis, spreadsheet dataset management, and geospatial data visualization. The course structures the student learning experience around a dynamic public research project in collaboration with community partners. In a guided workshop format, students develop Geographical Information Systems (GIS) skills using ESRI’s ArcGIS Pro and other software. Over the course of the semester, students contribute to the development and georeferencing of an extensive, multilayered set of data, incorporating narrative context into interactive maps drawn from historical and contemporary records. No prerequisite. (Offered in the spring, as needed.) Credit 4
