Catalog description

This intermediate course critically examines traditional and digital typography as glyph, word, symbol and form. Students will explore origins of typefaces, typesetting and information hierarchy, and fundamental and experimental typographic techniques within graphic design. Projects will range from minimal type treatments to the creation and publishing of an original typeface. Students must earn a grade of C or higher in this course to move forward in the program. Prerequisite: GDN 110. (Offered every fall)
