Catalog description

As an introduction into composition theory and writing center theory, this course will examine the theories and practices for teaching, tutoring and critiquing writers at the postsecondary level. Through field work in the Writing Center, students will receive professional experience in writing instruction by working as peer tutors and by participating in the creation of a community of writers. Emphasis through readings will be on the social and collaborative nature of writing. This course is required to qualify as a Writing Center consultant, but is open to any student who wants to engage in working with writers. Prerequisite: QEN 101. (Offered every fall term.)
