Catalog description

Current theories, research and instructional methods associated with reading and the Language Arts are examined. Candidates focus on the self- direction and professional development of literacy specialists, with an increasing emphsis on becoming instructional leaders including: mentoring, staff-development, coaching, school-wide literacy program development and assessment, supporting the action research of teachers, and developing partnerships with parents. Prerequisites: EDU 616, EDU 630, EDU 640, and EDU 650. Credits: 3.
