Catalog description

This course will lead candidates through a discussion and analysis of the issues, challenges, and opportunities related to education in a diverse and democratic society. Candidates will be engaged in an investigation of the similarities among students within cultures, ethnicity, and socio-economic status, and will be led to explore the preparation and ability of leaders and schools in promoting the value of diverse learning communities. In addition, this course will engage candidates in the exercise of identifying data- based achievement or other gaps in their schools. This exercise acts as the third component of the culminating program capstone project and will be a critical step in determining a plan for improvement in future courses.
