Elementary Social Studies Methods

Catalog description

This course examines methods, current trends and content of effective social studies teaching with emphasis on relationships among social science discipline areas in a multicultural society. Emphasis will be placed on developing thinking and problem solving skills as well as the relationship of social studies to other areas of elementary school curriculum and developing a classroom community. A field experience is required. Prerequisite: Admission to the Teacher Education Program. (Offered every fall term.)
