curriculum, planning and development of skills relating to phonics and vocabulary instruction, reading, writing, and comprehension within the framework of the Foundations of Reading theory. Candidates develop an understanding of the English orthography while exploring effective ways to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students. A field experience is required. Prerequisite: Admission to the Teacher Education Program.
