Catalog description

This course examines educational theory and practice in the United States within the context of historical, philosophical and sociological foundations. Candidates explore lesson planning for the 9-12 curriculum with emphasis on Common Core State Standards and NC Essential Standards. The study of the principles and theories of psychology that have direct application to the classroom will be addressed. Candidates begin to develop their philosophy and learning style in this course. A field experience is required. Prerequisite: None. (Offered every spring term.)
