Foundations of Elementary Education

Catalog description

This course examines educational theory and practice in the United States within the context of historical, philosophical and sociological foundations. Candidates explore lesson planning and best practices for K-6 curriculum with emphasis on Common Core State Standards and NC Essential Standards. The study of principles and theories of psychology that have direct application to the classroom will also be addressed. A field experience is required. Prerequisite: None. (Offered every fall term.)
