Introduction to Data Analytics: Data Analytics is an interdisciplinary field including creation, storage, analysis, and communication of data. In this class, we will explore some of the core components of data analysis including: collecting data, retrieving data, framing questions about data, basic statistical analysis, and basic data visualization. We will explore this through various activities and freely available datasets as well as through learning some of the basics of coding in R (an open source statistical program). A series of guest speakers from various fields will help you explore potential data focused careers. The class will finish with an applied data analysis project to combine and showcase skills you learn in this class. (Offered every term.) Credits: 2.
