Catalog description

Quantitative Methods in Conservation: Mathematical models and the ability to make predictions about conservation issues form the basis of many policy decisions related to Conservation and throughout other scientific disciplines. This course will introduce the practice of mathematical modeling with applications to conservation and making predictions. Topics include the philosophical basis of models, agent-based models, and population models. An emphasis will be placed on learning coding practices to implement models in different software (e.g., R, netlogo). Pre-requisite: BIO 202, or permission of instructor. Credit 4 (Every other Fall)
