Black Mountain College

Catalog description

This class explores the education fostered at Black Mountain College (1933-56), an experimental liberal arts school in North Carolina in which the arts were central to a liberal arts education. The impact of the school's students and faculty, from Josef and Anni Albers, to John Cage, Merce Cunningham, Charles Olsen and Buckminster Fuller are still felt nationally and internationally today. This class fulfills the writing-intensive requirement for the major. Prerequisite: None. Lab fee applies. (Offered every fall term.)
