Internship In Women’s, Gender, And Sexuality Studies

Catalog description

Students are able to earn credit for internships at sites such as advocacy, nonprofit, and community organizations; social service agencies; government offices; political parties; legislative bodies, interest groups, and diverse workplaces whose mission and activities relate to Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Students will be supervised by the internship site and the faculty of record for the course. Course requirements to be arranged with the instructor in consultation with the placement site. Course may be offered in traditional, distance, or blended format. Students may repeat only with consent of instructor and/or the Director of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies or their proxy. Prerequisite(s): WGSS 28900 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF C Course Learning Outcomes 1. Utilize contextually-appropriate behaviors, tools, techniques, and/or disposition in their placements. 2. Integrate discipline-specific knowledge into the field experience. 3. Reflect critically on internship experiences using knowledge of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies theories and methods of analysis. 4. Gain self-understanding, self-confidence, and interpersonal skills in an extra-mural setting. 5. Develop general work competencies and leadership skills. 6.
