Catalog description

The course focuses on the ways in which society influences individual experiences and understandings of gender and the impact this has on larger social institutions, including education, marriage and family, health, and work. This course also considers the intersections of gender, race and ethnicity, and social class. The influence of feminist theory on our understanding of gender is also discussed. Not open to students with credit in SOC 31501. Prerequisite(s): SOC 10000 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF D- Course Learning Outcomes 1. Acquire information about the ways in which society influences individual experiences and understandings of gender. 2. Understand the impact the aforementioned information has on larger social institutions, including but not limited to education, marriage and family, health, and work. 3. Consider the intersections of gender, race and ethnicity, and social class. 4. Recognize the influence of feminist theory on our understanding of gender is also discussed. View Class Schedule
