Study of selected poetry, fiction, theatre, and essays written in the United States by Spanish-speaking writers; includes readings in the literature written in Spanish and English as well as bilingual poetry and prose. Conducted in Spanish and English. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer. General Education: Humanities Course Learning Outcomes 1. Identify and summarize key authors, texts, and cultural movements in U.S. Latinx literature and history. 2. Compare and contrast the diverse lived experiences, history, and cultural production of different Latinx communities (e.g., Mexican American, Puerto Rican, Cuban American, Central American) and in different historical and social contexts. 3. Evaluate the role of literature and cultural production in shaping and challenging dominant narratives about Latinx identities in the U.S. 4. Produce original critical or creative work that demonstrates a deep engagement with Latinx literature, history, and culture. View Class Schedule
