Catalog description

Social influences on the individual and processes of social interaction. Individual attitudes and behavior as related to socialization, social norms, social roles, communication and propaganda, and other social influences. Among the interaction processes considered are interpersonal attraction, influence, leadership, cooperation, and conflict. Not open to students with credit in PSY 24000 or PSY33900. For those students pursuing a BA in Sociology or Psychology, the prerequisites for this course also include SOC38300. SOC38400, or PSY20300. Typically offered Summer Fall Spring. GRADE OF D- Course Learning Outcomes Learn the basic social psychological theories that make up the three faces of sociological social psychology: symbolic interactionism, group processes, and social structure & personality Relate knowledge of social psychological theory and research to situations in everyday life such as interpersonal interaction and group relations Assess and critically analyze how the theories, research methods, and finding of social psychologists can be used to understand other sociological constructs View Class Schedule
