Catalog description

The field experience component of the Human Services curriculum provides a supervised learning experience in a professional practice setting. The participants in the field practicum include the student, faculty and agency supervisor. This will give students the opportunity to integrate carefully selected and approved individualized experiences as they actively engage in professional tasks which complement and reinforce classroom learning. The seminar that accompanies the course will provide opportunities for student peer relationships and for the development of beginning competencies as students learn to use supervision and focus on specific practice areas. The course will place particular emphasis on the needs of each student. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer. Prerequisite(s): SOC 26100 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF D- Experiential Learning (EXL): Yes Course Learning Outcomes 1. Provides a supervised learning experience in a professional practice setting. 2. Gives students the opportunity to integrate carefully selected and approved individualized experiences as they actively engage in professional tasks which complement and reinfoce classroom learning. 3.
