An introductory survey of women’s legal status in America. Topics include but are not limited to: constitutional law, marriage and divorce, reproductive rights, employment discrimination, and crimes of violence. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Critique the political, legal, and constitutional issues related to gender equality that have come before the courts. 2. Describe complicated legal arguments and holdings and recognize the strongest and most convincing argument for and against key positions or legal interpretations. 3. Explain key historical, doctrinal, and conceptual developments related to equal protection under the law guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and other legislation. 4.
