Catalog description

This course is designed for students interested in the areas of occupational health and safety, production engineering, facilities management, and supervision and management. An understanding of how to prevent musculoskeletal disorders and improve manual working conditions will be gained through the use of applicable real life exercises and exploration of research in various industries. This course will cover a general study of the musculoskeletal system as well as guidelines for lifting, reaching, seated work, machine work, hand tools and vibration. Typically offered Spring. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Explain the importance of ergonomics and basic ergonomic principles. 2. Identify ergonomic hazards in the workplace. 3. Select appropriate methods/tools for measuring ergonomic risk and perform simple risk assessments; report on results. 4. Identify simple methods to control/reduce ergonomic risk. 5. Explain the importance of View Class Schedule
