Students examine foundational constructs used by the nurse executives in creating an environment for professional practice. Leadership approaches, including transformational leadership, are examined. Additional topics addressed include change theory, resource management, workflow design, and performance assessment. Constructs will be examined from an evidence based practice perspective. Prerequisites: None Typically offered Fall Spring Summer. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Analyze evidence based leadership approaches used by nurse executives in organizational settings. 2. Analyze quality improvement models for their fit with an organization’s goals, objectives and culture. 3. Examine ways that change theories and evidence based practice strategies can transform the practice setting. 4. Evaluate the evidence based rationale and effectiveness of various care delivery models. 5. Develop a personal philosophy and framework for professional growth in nurse executive practice.
