Population Health

Catalog description

The course examines population health from local, regional, and international perspectives. Students examine foundational constructs related to population health and use reflection and self-awareness to enhance population health. Concepts such as social determinants of health and population health inequities are analyzed. Students gain an understanding of the context of marginalized populations through the analysis of cultural, economic, educational, philosophical, policy, social, and technological factors that impact health. Students use this knowledge to develop evidence-based strategies to promote population health. Prerequisites: NUR 51000 or equivalent; NUR 64170. Prerequisite(s): NUR 51000 FOR LEVEL GR WITH MIN. GRADE OF D- AND NUR 64170 FOR LEVEL GR WITH MIN. GRADE OF D- Course Learning Outcomes 1. Cultivate reflection and self-awareness to provide culturally competent population health care.
