Catalog description

Students analyze theories and evidence related to nursing personnel and organizational spheres of influence relevant to the wellness to illness spectrum of care of the youngest to oldest adult patients. Students develop clinical nurse specialist competencies related to nursing personnel, other healthcare providers and organizations. The emphasis is on using evidence-informed problem solving and evaluation methodologies to address nursing care and organizational issues. Students continue to generate evidence-based and theoretically sound advanced nursing interventions for the youngest to oldest adults as the basis of nursing care within the context of complex adaptive systems. Typically offered Spring. Prerequisite(s): NUR 60000 FOR LEVEL GR WITH MIN. GRADE OF B Course Learning Outcomes 1. Analyze selected theoretical frameworks and empirical evidence with potential for enhancing the adult-gerontological clinical nurse specialist’ss level of influence among nursing personnel and within the healthcare organization. 2. Utilize systematic methodologies for identifying and defining problems related to adult-gerontologic nursing practice and the healthcare organization. 3. Create theory and evidence-based strategies for introducing innovation and addressing nursing personnel and organizational problems/issues in the context of adult-gerontologic nursing practice. 4. Analyze methods for evaluating the outcomes of adult-gerontologic clinical nurse specialist influence with respect to nursing personnel and organizations. 5. Analyze clinical nurse specialist professional role competencies related to nursing personnel and organizational spheres of influence as they relate to adult-gerontologic problems of the youngest to oldest adults and wellness to illness spectra.
