This course synthesizes pathophysiology and pharmacotherapeutics to foster a sophisticated cognizance of disease etiology, progression, and therapeutic management. Students will integrate intricate pathophysiological paradigms with evidence-based pharmacological strategies to formulate patient-specific care protocols for diverse populations. The course emphasizes the cultivation of advanced clinical knowledge promoting shared decision-making and evaluation of pharmacotherapeutic efficacy. Through this integrative approach, students will acquire the capability to navigate the complexities of healthcare, developing ethical and judicious clinical practice. Prerequisite(s): NUR 57410 FOR LEVEL GR WITH MIN. GRADE OF D- Course Learning Outcomes 1. Synthesize advanced pathophysiological knowledge with pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics to formulate comprehensive differential diagnoses and evidence-based pharmacological treatment plans for common systemic disorders. Develop personalized, culturally sensitive plans for care that integrate patient preferences, genetic/genomic factors, environmental influences, and social determinants of health demonstrating advanced clinical reasoning in the selection and management of pharmacological interventions for multifaceted physiological disorders. (Aligns with EPSLOs 1, 2, 4) 3. Demonstrate advanced clinical decision-making skills by accurately interpreting diagnostic test results, distinguishing between normal and abnormal physiological findings, and selecting appropriate pharmacologic agents based on pathophysiological processes in diverse patient populations. Critically evaluate the effectiveness of prescribed pharmacological interventions in relation to pathophysiological responses, demonstrating the ability to modify treatment plans based on patient outcomes, emerging evidence, and cost-effectiveness. Apply the model of homeostasis and principles of pharmacotherapeutics to analyze complex physiological processes and pathophysiological phenomena, informing evidence-based pharmacological decisions within the scope of advanced nursing practice, while adhering to legal and ethical requirements for prescriptive authority.
