Catalog description

This course integrates the core principles of healthcare quality, safety, and informatics to prepare advanced practitioners for leadership in complex healthcare environments. Students examine information and communication technologies, data analytics, and informatics processes that transform data into knowledge and clinical wisdom to support evidence-based decision-making. Emphasis is placed on applying informatics and quality improvement science to enhance healthcare outcomes, strengthen system effectiveness, and minimize risks to patients and providers. Students critically analyze established and emerging frameworks for safety and quality improvement within the context of interprofessional collaboration and regulatory standards. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Integrate principles of quality improvement, safety, and informatics to advance evidence-based, person-centered, and equitable healthcare outcomes. Examine sources of healthcare data, information systems, and communication technologies to inform clinical decision-making and improve system performance.
