Pathophysiologic Concepts And Pharmacologic Interventions For Nurse Educators

Catalog description

Students examine the physiologic changes that occur as a result of common disease processes, the clinical manifestations indicative of altered health and the pharmacological therapy used to treat these disease processes. Students use homeostasis as a model to account for regulatory and compensatory functions in health and illness across the lifespan. Students also consider the role of best available evidence and patient preferences related to pharmacologic interventions. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer. Prerequisite(s): NUR 50100 FOR LEVEL GR WITH MIN. GRADE OF D- Course Learning Outcomes 1. Describe regulatory and compensatory functions of common disease processes using the homeostasis model. 2. Interpret physiologic function and pathophysiologic dysfunction in the context of clinical decision making. 3. Integrate the basic principles of pharmacology and the nursing process to selected medications and their therapeutic use across the lifespan. 4.
