This course presents an overview of e-business from design to operations of organizations engaging in the fast-paced highly competitive, global environment of e-commerce. Topics include the impact of e-business, strategic use of IT for competitive advantage, e-business impact on organization, globalization, and the impact on options created through applied IT. It is designed for students pursuing leadership roles in defining IT policy and strategy. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Develop a solid and detailed foundation in electronic business. 2. Understand the origin, growth and current technology infrastructure of the internet. 3. Understand what a revenue model is and how e-business companies use various revenue models. 4. Determine the role of the various marketing functions as they apply to e-business as a marketing channel. 5. Understand how e-business companies use the Internet to improve purchasing, logistics, and other business process activities. 6. Understand how social networking emerged from virtual communities and learn how companies use social networking tools in online business activities. 7. Learn how the legal, ethical, and tax issues affect e-business activities. 8. Identify core concepts for the design and maintenance of e-business systems. 9. Learn how to evaluate e-business software and how they work. 10. Identify and assess the risks of insecure e-business systems and learn how to implement security-conscious solutions in e-business websites. 11. Understand the online payment methods and functions in e-business. 12. Learn the startups of online business and understand how to identify benefits, estimate cost, and manage staff issues in e-business implementations. View Class Schedule
