This course surveys the manufacturing processes and tools commonly used to convert cast, forged, molded, and wrought materials into finished products. It includes the basic mechanisms of material removal, measurement, quality control, assembly processes, cold forming, safety, process planning, and automated manufacturing. Typically offered Fall. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Apply standard safety procedures for a manufacturing environment. 2. Identify and perform the basic material removal processes: turning, boring, drilling, reaming, milling, sawing, and tapping. 3. Calculate speed, feed, and depth of cut for material removal operations using The Machinery’s Handbook. 4. Communicate the steps required to manufacture a product using standard terms. 5.
